USAID/SMARTWork HCT services reach more persons

HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) services to its partner national, industrial/labour unions has continued to be provided by The Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NIBUCAA). Other organisations that have requested for HCT services were also attended to, such as Total Nigeria PLC in Benue and Katsina states; Guinness Nigeria PLC in Aba, Abia State; Benin, Edo State and Lagos State. HCT service was also provided as requested at a community outreach event, organised by the project manager of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN) in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Although,500 persons were to be targetted with HCT services in the quarter under review, 3,105 persons (41.4%) were reached, as against 2,243 persons reached in the second quarter. The appreciation over the previous quarter is attributable to improvements in the mobilisation activities of the national industrial unions.
