  Strategic Partnerships Structure of NIBUCAA

NIBUCAA is in partnership with a number of institutions and organisations to optimise resources, gain knowledge and expertise, expand impact and reach new client bases. Beside close cooperation with the National Action Committee on AIDS (NACCA), which coordinates the multi-sectoral HIV & AIDS response of the government, NIBUCAA partners with various international organisations, bilateral agencies, other business entities, national and international private voluntary organisations/non-governmental organisations (PVO/NGO):

NIBUCAA wants to maintain and improve her relationships with all institutions and partnering organisations so far (see graph above or appendix no. 4). Special emphasis will be put on the relations to certain entities as well as formation of new strategic partnerships.

  1. National Agency for the Control of HIV& AIDS (NACA)
  2. NACA coordinates the national muti-sectoral response to HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, while NIBUCAA keys into this under the umbrella of the private sector response. The Coalition  has close working relationship with the governmental organisations coordinating HIV&AIDS activities at the states levels for example the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (L-SACA) and Kaduna State Action Committee on AIDS (KAD-SACA).

  3. International Labor Organisation(ILO), Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS),
    World Bank .and Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria(GFATM)
  4. NIBUCAA has received technical and financial support during the last years and will approach these international organisations for funding in future.   

     

  5. German Technical Cooperation/AIDS Control in Companies in Africa (GTZ/ACCA)
  6. Key element of this partnership is the technical support provided by GTZ/ACCA guided by financial support to strengthen the human capacity of  the Coalition

  7. UNAIDS-ILO-NACA-NEPHWAN-NIBUCAA Partnership
  8. This partnership targets the development of a national process guide to for the implementation of the GIPA (Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV and AIDS) principle in a selected number of companies in Nigeria. The GIPA principles are based on lessons learned from the experiences through the GIPA Workplace Model in South Africa.

  9. United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
  10. NIBUCAA received technical and financial support for a 12-month project to develop workplace policies and programmes for selected SMEs in Lagos and Kaduna States through the USAID-funded ENHANSE Project

  11. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises(SMEs)
  12. NIBUCAA wants to provide services to SMEs as well. A concept which is in process is to focus on the design of special WPP for SMEs (under the ENHANSE Project) and  partnering with large companies like TOTAL Nigeria PLC, Nestlé Nigeria PLC, Shell Development Company of Nigeria Limited in order to reach their suppliers or their petrol stations ( as in the case TOTAL).

  13. NIBUCAA-TOTAL Nigeria PLC Collaboration
  14. NUBUCAA  received a grant from TOTAL Nigeria PLC to train Driveway Supervisors and Customer Attendants as HIV &AIDS Educators in 20 service stations within the Lagos metropolis to implement a pilot project. Mobile Voluntary Counselling and Testing was carried out in the service stations in conjunction with the PEPFAR-funded Global HIV &AIDS Initiative in Nigeria (GHAIN).

  15. Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria(GFATM)
  16. NIBUCAA  as a Sub-recipient under NACA(Principal Recipient) received a GFATM grant to implant Objective 5 of the Global Fund Round 5 Project for the implementation of 
    HIV&AIDS WPP in the private sector. Project activities include the following:  undertake a baseline survey of SMEs in 6 states representing the 6 geo-political zones and the Federal Capital Territory; support the Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV or AIDS (GIPA) Project in SMEs, strengthen linkages between public and private programs, as well as improvement of the coordination within the private sector.
